Introduced on 2 May 1961 as a facelift of the Holden FB, the EK brought a fresh eight-bar grille and updated body-side mouldings to Holden's hardest-working model. Ute versions stuck with a rugged three-speed manual column shift and the trusted 2.3-litre overhead-valve six, and the EK Ute quickly became the backbone of small business and farming life, offering a perfect blend of passenger car comfort and rugged commercial practicality.
