The 2021 Yamaha YZR-M1 marked the final chapter of Valentino Rossi's 26-year Grand Prix career. Racing for the satellite Petronas Yamaha SRT squad in the turquoise and black colours of his own VR46 brand, Rossi rode a full factory-specification M1 — technically identical to the machine that carried teammate Fabio Quartararo to the title that same year. Though the season proved a tough farewell tour, it closed the book on the most influential rider-manufacturer partnership in modern MotoGP history.
