Glossy blue lacquer laid over a brass body and finished with polished chrome-plated trims, this is the Sheaffer 100 in its most cheerful guise and the most affordable way into a pen that is still properly made. The lacquer has real depth to it, shifting between navy and cobalt as the light moves, which is the detail that separates a lacquered finish from a painted one.
The twist-action mechanism advances the tip with a single quiet turn rather than a click, and at 138mm closed with an 11mm barrel the pen carries enough mass to sit steadily in the hand without tiring it over a long page. On the crown of the cap sits the Sheaffer White Dot, first applied in 1924 as the mark Walter A. Sheaffer placed on pens that had passed his own inspection.
