2026 $1 Uncirculated Coin - 'Holey Dollar' - Origins of Australian Coin (12243)

Description

We are pleased to stock the 2026 $1 Uncirculated Holey Dollar coin from the Royal Australian Mint's Origins of Australian Coin release. Struck in copper-nickel with an uncirculated finish, it weighs 12.58g and has a 30.0mm outer diameter with a 6.0mm hole through the centre, just like the original. Mintage is limited to 35,000.

Short of coinage, Governor Macquarie had the centres punched out of Spanish silver dollars struck in Mexican mints, creating both the Holey Dollar and the Dump. E. Watford's reverse recreates the 1823 Holey Dollar held in the National Coin Collection alongside an 1813 Dump, framed by wattle and dahlia, and the coin also marks 60 years of Australia and Mexico diplomatic relations. It is presented on a card.
