Issue 26 – 1973 Ford XA Falcon Superbird Hard Top.
The XA was the first Falcon designed and manufactured entirely in Australia, arriving with a dramatic new "coke-bottle" body and, for the first time, a two-door hardtop coupe in the range that put Ford squarely up against the Holden Monaro. The Superbird was the glamour variant of that hardtop, built on the XA Falcon 500 Hardtop platform and dressed with bold Superbird decals on the rear quarter panels, sports suspension, and Grand Sport Rally Pack instrumentation. Under the bonnet sat an Australian-built 302 cubic inch Cleveland V8, giving the range genuine muscle car credentials.
