Machined from solid brass and finished in a fine brushed chrome, the Sheaffer 100 carries a weight in the hand that photographs never quite convey. The satin barrel is set off by polished nickel-plated appointments, and the twist-action mechanism deploys the tip with a single quiet turn - no click, no rattle.
At the crown of the cap sits the Sheaffer White Dot. It was first applied in 1924 as the mark Walter A. Sheaffer placed on pens that had passed his own inspection, and it has signified the company's guarantee of quality ever since. The 100 measures 138mm closed with an 11mm barrel, which gives it enough presence for extended writing without becoming tiring, and it takes the proprietary Sheaffer K-style ballpoint refill in fine or medium, black or blue.
