Description

A rollerball is the natural compromise between the convenience of a ballpoint and the wet, expressive line of a fountain pen, and the Icon makes a particularly good one. The barrel is finished in a warm metallic red lacquer with a faint pearlescence to it, trimmed in black PVD rather than chrome so the colour stays the loudest thing about the pen.

Icon was designed with sustained writing in mind - a generous profile, weight balanced towards the hand rather than the cap, and a vintage-style wraparound clip carried over from Sheaffer's archive. The rollerball refill lays down a line closer to ink than to paste, which is the point of choosing one.
