Sheaffer Pens

Sheaffer Pens

Sheaffer has been making writing instruments since Walter A. Sheaffer patented his lever-filling fountain pen and opened for business in Fort Madison, Iowa in 1913. The White Dot on the cap, first applied in 1924, remains the company's mark of a pen that has passed inspection. Waterfront News is an Authorised Sheaffer Stockist, and our range covers the 100, Icon, Reminder and Prelude collections in ballpoint, rollerball and fountain pen.

  • Sheaffer Icon ballpoint pen in metallic green lacquer with black PVD trim

Sheaffer Sheaffer Icon Met Green with Black BP

Green is a rare thing on a serious writing instrument, which is much of the appeal here. The Icon's barrel is finished in a deep metallic green lacquer that reads almost black in low light and only gives up its colour under a lamp or in daylight, paired with black PVD trim for a pen that is discreet at a glance and rather more interesting on closer inspection. The Icon range was conceived as a bridge between Sheaffer's traditional writing quality and a more contemporary aesthetic, and the proportions bear that out - a generous barrel, weight balanced towards the hand, and the vintage-style wraparound clip that has become the collection's signature. Comfortable for long stretches of writing rather than just the occasional signature.Twist-action ballpoint taking the Sheaffer K-style refill. Boxed, with the Sheaffer White Dot on the cap crown.

  • Sheaffer Icon rollerball pen in metallic red lacquer with black PVD trim Sheaffer Icon metallic red rollerball, cap removed showing grip section

Sheaffer Sheaffer Icon Matt Red with Black RB

A rollerball is the natural compromise between the convenience of a ballpoint and the wet, expressive line of a fountain pen, and the Icon makes a particularly good one. The barrel is finished in a warm metallic red lacquer with a faint pearlescence to it, trimmed in black PVD rather than chrome so the colour stays the loudest thing about the pen.Icon was designed with sustained writing in mind - a generous profile, weight balanced towards the hand rather than the cap, and a vintage-style wraparound clip carried over from Sheaffer's archive. The rollerball refill lays down a line closer to ink than to paste, which is the point of choosing one.Cap-off design, presented in a Sheaffer gift box. The Sheaffer White Dot on the cap crown has marked the company's finer pens since 1924.

  • Sheaffer Icon ballpoint pen in metallic red lacquer with black PVD trim Sheaffer Icon metallic red ballpoint, wraparound clip and cap band detail

Sheaffer Sheaffer Icon Matt Red with Black BP

Metallic red is the most recent finish to join the Icon line, and it is a bolder proposition than the matt black - a warm, slightly pearlescent lacquer that catches light along the length of the barrel and is set off by black PVD trim rather than the usual chrome. The effect is closer to a piece of automotive paintwork than office stationery. The engineering underneath is Icon throughout: an ample profile that fills the hand, weight distributed for comfort over long writing sessions, and the vintage-style wraparound clip that ties the collection back to Sheaffer's own back catalogue. The White Dot sits on the cap crown as it has on the company's better pens since 1924.Twist-action ballpoint taking the proprietary Sheaffer K-style refill, supplied in a Sheaffer gift box.

  • Sheaffer Icon fountain pen in matt black lacquer with gloss black and red trim Sheaffer Icon matt black fountain pen, stainless steel nib detail

Sheaffer Sheaffer Icon Matt Black Gloss Black and Red FP F

The Icon collection was drawn as a deliberate bridge between Sheaffer's archive and the desk of a working professional today. The proportions are generous rather than slim, and the balance has been weighted for the long haul - an hour of notes, not a signature and back in the drawer. This example pairs a deep matt black lacquer barrel with gloss black PVD trim and a single stroke of red, a restrained piece of contrast that only really reads up close. The wraparound clip is a direct nod to Sheaffer's vintage designs, and the fine stainless steel nib is tuned for a crisp, controlled line. It fills by cartridge or converter, so you can run it on Sheaffer Skrip bottled ink or drop in a cartridge when you are travelling.Presented in a Sheaffer gift box with converter and cartridges included.

  • Sheaffer Icon ballpoint pen in matt black lacquer with gloss black and red trim Sheaffer Icon matt black ballpoint, vintage wraparound clip with red inlay

Sheaffer Sheaffer Icon Matt Black Gloss Black and Red BP

The Icon collection was drawn as a deliberate bridge between Sheaffer's archive and the desk of a working professional today. The proportions are generous rather than slim, and the weight has been balanced for the long haul - an hour of notes, not a signature and back in the drawer. This one pairs a deep matt black lacquer barrel with gloss black PVD trim and a single stroke of red, a restrained piece of contrast that really only reads up close. The wraparound clip is a direct nod to Sheaffer's vintage designs, and the whole pen has a softness to the hand that the matt lacquer is largely responsible for. It is a heavier, more deliberate object than the 100, and priced accordingly.Twist-action ballpoint taking the Sheaffer K-style refill, presented in a Sheaffer gift box.

  • Sheaffer Reminder ballpoint pen in matt black lacquer with black PVD trim Sheaffer Reminder matt black ballpoint, clickable clip mechanism detail

Sheaffer Sheaffer Reminder Matt Black BP

The Reminder revives one of Sheaffer's cleverest pieces of engineering: the clickable clip, first introduced in the 1960s. Press the bottom of the clip and the tip advances; press the top and it retracts and locks. The mechanism is designed so the clip physically cannot grip a pocket, a lapel or a sheet of paper while the tip is exposed - a small idea, elegantly executed, that has saved a great many shirts. The slim silhouette is finished in matt black lacquer with polished black PVD trim, giving an almost entirely monochrome pen with the White Dot as its only relief. It is a quieter, more considered object than most pens at this price, and it rewards being carried rather than stored.Takes the Sheaffer K-style ballpoint refill. Supplied in a Sheaffer presentation box.

  • Sheaffer Reminder ballpoint pen in matt grey lacquer with black PVD trim Sheaffer Reminder matt grey ballpoint pen shown full length

Sheaffer Sheaffer Reminder Matt Grey BP

Matt grey is the most understated of the three Reminder finishes and probably the most wearable - a flat, warm lacquer with polished black PVD trim that looks equally at home clipped to a notebook or a jacket. Nothing about it draws attention until you use it.That is when the Reminder makes its case. The clickable clip, a Sheaffer invention from the 1960s and revived for this pen, advances the tip when you press its lower end and retracts and locks it when you press the upper end. While the point is exposed the clip cannot grip a pocket or a page, which is a rather more thoughtful piece of design than most pens bother with.Slim profile, Sheaffer K-style ballpoint refill, and the White Dot on the cap crown. Presented in a Sheaffer box.

  • Sheaffer Reminder ballpoint pen in matt blue lacquer with black PVD trim Sheaffer Reminder matt blue ballpoint pen shown full length

Sheaffer Sheaffer Reminder Matt Blue BP

Sheaffer's clickable clip dates to the 1960s and is the whole point of the Reminder. You press the bottom of the clip to advance the tip and the top to retract it, and the geometry is such that the clip will not close over a pocket or a lapel while the point is out. It is one of those rare mechanisms that solves a genuine problem instead of merely announcing itself. Here the slim barrel is finished in a matt blue lacquer - soft to the touch, closer to slate than to royal - and trimmed in polished black PVD. The restraint is deliberate; there is nothing on this pen that is not doing a job, save the White Dot on the cap.Takes the Sheaffer K-style ballpoint refill and comes in a Sheaffer presentation box.

  • Sheaffer 100 ballpoint pen in glossy blue lacquer with polished chrome trims Sheaffer 100 blue lacquer ballpoint, close detail of chrome cap band and clip

Sheaffer Sheaffer 100 Blue and Chrome BP

Glossy blue lacquer laid over a brass body and finished with polished chrome-plated trims, this is the Sheaffer 100 in its most cheerful guise and the most affordable way into a pen that is still properly made. The lacquer has real depth to it, shifting between navy and cobalt as the light moves, which is the detail that separates a lacquered finish from a painted one.The twist-action mechanism advances the tip with a single quiet turn rather than a click, and at 138mm closed with an 11mm barrel the pen carries enough mass to sit steadily in the hand without tiring it over a long page. On the crown of the cap sits the Sheaffer White Dot, first applied in 1924 as the mark Walter A. Sheaffer placed on pens that had passed his own inspection.Takes the proprietary Sheaffer K-style ballpoint refill in fine or medium, black or blue. Supplied boxed and covered by Sheaffer's limited one-year warranty.

  • Sheaffer 100 ballpoint pen in gloss black lacquer with gold-tone trims Sheaffer 100 gloss black and gold ballpoint pen, cap and clip detail

Sheaffer Sheaffer 100 Gloss Black and Gold BP

Gold trim asks more of a pen than chrome does, and the 100 has the proportions to carry it. Gloss black lacquer runs the length of the brass barrel, framed by gold-tone plated appointments at the cap band, clip and tip - warmer and rather more traditional than the chrome-trimmed version, and the one most people reach for when the pen is meant as a gift.Sheaffer has been building pens to this standard since Walter A. Sheaffer opened his workshop in Fort Madison, Iowa in 1913, and by 1920 was confident enough in them to launch the Lifetime pen at nearly three times a competitor's price. The White Dot that followed in 1924 remains on the cap crown of this one.Twist-action mechanism, 138mm closed, and the proprietary Sheaffer K-style ballpoint refill in fine or medium. Presented in a Sheaffer box with a limited one-year warranty.

  • Sheaffer 100 ballpoint pen in gloss black lacquer with chrome trims Sheaffer 100 gloss black ballpoint, chrome clip and White Dot detail

Sheaffer Sheaffer 100 Gloss Black and Chrome BP

There is a reason black and chrome has never gone out of fashion on a writing instrument: it reads as serious without ever reading as showy. This Sheaffer 100 pairs a deep gloss black lacquer barrel with bright chrome-plated trims, a combination that suits a boardroom table and a kitchen bench equally well.Underneath the finish it is the same well-engineered pen the 100 has always been - a brass body for weight and balance, a twist-action mechanism that advances the tip smoothly and silently, and 138mm of length that fills the hand properly. The White Dot on the cap crown is Sheaffer's own mark of writing excellence, in continuous use since 1924.Fitted with the proprietary Sheaffer K-style ballpoint refill, available in fine or medium, black or blue. Boxed, with Sheaffer's limited one-year warranty.

  • Sheaffer 100 ballpoint pen with brushed chrome barrel and nickel plated trims Sheaffer branded presentation gift box supplied with the 100 ballpoint pen

Sheaffer Sheaffer 100 Brushed Chrome - BP

Machined from solid brass and finished in a fine brushed chrome, the Sheaffer 100 carries a weight in the hand that photographs never quite convey. The satin barrel is set off by polished nickel-plated appointments, and the twist-action mechanism deploys the tip with a single quiet turn - no click, no rattle. At the crown of the cap sits the Sheaffer White Dot. It was first applied in 1924 as the mark Walter A. Sheaffer placed on pens that had passed his own inspection, and it has signified the company's guarantee of quality ever since. The 100 measures 138mm closed with an 11mm barrel, which gives it enough presence for extended writing without becoming tiring, and it takes the proprietary Sheaffer K-style ballpoint refill in fine or medium, black or blue.A properly grown-up everyday pen: substantial on the desk, understated in the inside pocket. Covered by Sheaffer's limited one-year warranty.
